RE theme

This half term we will be learning about Judaism with a focus on Abraham and Moses as leaders of the  Jewish people.

Our Advent theme is” Loving and Waiting” as we prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas time.  We will remember how Mary waited for the birth of Jesus and how she helped Elizabeth.

Phonics
Our children are involved in Phonics lessons following the Letters and Sounds scheme which is part of their reading and writing development. These sessions begin at 9.05 am.
Please ensure your child is on time so that sessions can begin.
Spelling
At St Mark's we follow a spelling scheme called Shakespeare and More.  The scheme consists of 32 lists of words for children to learn. The lists get progressively more challenging, matching the year-on-year content of the National Curriculum.  Click here for more details.

Reading
At St Mark's our children follow a reading scheme that includes a variety of different types of reading books from various publishers to ensure they have access to a wide range of texts. These books are numbered using the Reading Recovery levels. Please help your child by reading at home as often as possible.

If you would like to know any more about your child's learning please speak to the class teacher.
